Soccer in the City 2012: Future Stars

Specifically designed for boys and girls ages 5 – 11 years old, the camp will provide a fun introduction to the joys of soccer. The camp will concentrate on providing young players with a solid foundation in basic soccer technical skills and instilling a love of the game.

Soccer in the City® has added a Fitness component that is woven into all aspects of the soccer camp activities.

Half-day Camp 1pm – 4:30pm    (Drop-off 12:45pm; Pickup 4:45pm)

Full-day Camp  9am – 4:30pm    (Drop-off 8:45am; Pickup 4:45pm)

Half-Day Camp $155.00, Full Day Camp $215.00

The camp will be directed and coached by David Duncan (
coachd@dspacademy.com), Head Coach of DPS Academy (USSF 'D' and NSCAA 'Regional' Licensed) and other former professional, college, and high school players.

Dribblers (Beginners)

For children new to the game of soccer or with one-to-two seasons of play. For the youngest and least experienced children their biggest soccer problem is the ball.

Olympians (Intermediate)

For children with 3 to 5 seasons of soccer. The art of the dribble. Emphasis on speed, balance, and touch;

World Cup (Advanced)

For children with 6 or more seasons of competitive or recreational soccer. Emphasis on key DPS skills: dribble, shoot, pass;  the foot compass – Inside (W), Outside (E), Instep (N) and Sole (S)

Learning Objectives

§  R.O.O.T.S. - Respect Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates, and Self
§  How to set up playing the game
§  Choosing sides
§  Agreeing with your peers
§  Make compromises
§  Figure out answers
§  Submit to self-directed rulings so that the game can continue

Methodology

§  Brazilian-style training methods
§  Technical correction using the OldWay-NewWay method
§  Individual and Group Instruction

Emphasis on “free play”;  individual instruction; focus on balance and touch essential to dribbling; Small-sided, one v one and two v two games

 Includes  §  Prizes, Water/Sports Drinks, and Lunch for ALL campers
